The town of Bansko is located in the southwest part of Bulgaria, 160 km away from Sofia. It is situated in the outskirts of the Pirin Mountain, one
of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains. The Pirin National Park is a natural nature reserve and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Bansko
offers an interesting combination of the marvelous natural resources of the Pirin Mountain excellent ski facilities and the pleasant atmosphere of an old
Bulgarian town.
The facilities and conditions for skiing in Bansko are excellent. Pirin is an is a fold mountain like the Alps with 2 peaks above 2 900 meters. The
ski resort has ski-runs with various degrees of difficulty, suitable for all: from beginners to professionals. All ski facilities are maintained in
perfect condition. On the other hand, the town of Bansko by itself is also an attractive tourist destination and has 120 cultural and historical
landmarks, museums, recreational and entertainment facilities.
Bansko is a mountain resort surrounded by the ranges of Pirin, Rila and the Rhodopes mountains. It has a relatively short summer and a long winter
season. The average temperature in January, which is the coldest month in the year, is -1.9°С. The region has a heavy snow fall ensuring a permanent
snow cover during the winter season of up to 2 m. The ski season on the slope of the Pirin Mountain starts in mid December and last till
mid-April. However, Bansko is more than a winter resort. During the summer the town is an excellent destination for tourism, hiking, horse riding,
fishing and other summer activities for the entire family.
